Why do we always hear "men commit more murders" but never "men sacrifice their lives more"?

Asked by mr. chao at 09 May,2013
The number of men enlisted in the military (all volunteers) substantially outnumbers the number of male murderers in the U.S. Each person who joins knows full well that they may die. Not to mention men have at least a 9:1 monopoly on sacrificing their lives for not only their partners, but strangers (firefighters, police, Titanic, etc.) Why do we only hear about the bad?

People focus on the bad stuff people and rarely focus on the good stuff people do. My grandmother use to only talk about the bad times, never the good times, and her life was a life of misery. Sure there was a time when women didn't get paid as much as men and had fewer career opportunities then men. On the other hand women didn't get executed or punished as harshly for crimes and women didn't have to fight on the hellish battlefields. Everyone has paid for their rights in one way or another and anyone who lives under the disguise of permanent victim is a coward.

Other Answers:
  1. Bad news sells better.
  2. Yeah cops are have already proved they are sexist and racist and profile criminals. Kind of hard to catch the criminals when they aren't even in the suspect line up or considered for the crime. "oh miss daisy? Shes a sweetheart she could never murder anybody, we have to have other suspects" "jermiah looks like a killer, he must be the suspect"

If jodi arias wasn't coming off as a slut and talking about national tv that she loves it when somebody lets go on her face (grossing thing I ever heard on a cross examination in my life). Then she probably would have got off too.
  3. The number of men enlisted in the military might drop a little if you men accepted that women can also join in.
By your logic, I can complain why people only ever notice how moody women are, and forget that they are the ones who birth every single human being on earth.

Thumb me down all you want, but you're just complaining about facts and things that really won't change.
  4. If killin' is the metric, in the U.S. approximately 1 MILLION abortions are performed each year. And while Legal Eagles can argue about "personhood" (a social construct!), it is undeniable that abortion kills a living (human) being.
  5. I look at it this way: people SHOULD want to do good without getting recognition for it or not. When someone does something bad, they're going against the good they should be doing
  6. Most of the questions here, the ones pertaining to men and women, are just people trying to make men or women look better or worse. So, I don't much expect people to post much of anything flattering about the opposite sex all that often.
  7. because idiot feminists only like mentioning the bad stuff that men do
  8. People focus on the bad stuff people and rarely focus on the good stuff people do.
