I am afraid of death, and it seems almost disappointing that you spend your whole life doing whatever and then it all ends, as if it never happened. And you won't remember it; you're loved ones will but when they die, and their loved ones die, who will you be anymore? I don't think you'll ever be remembered. That's what scares me. I get really scared of the thought that it has all been like it never happened. And, when you least expect it, you'll slip into an eternity of nothing. Complete nothingness. You won't even be able to think about how you are doing nothing in an eternity of nothingness. I don't know whether I'd want to. And when I think about this, I seem to subconsciously view it as fiction ... like it's not possible. But it is. And it will most likely happen.

Most everyone actually fears death. Though it is natural and inevitable nobody really knows what happens after they die. Many folks find solice in their religion, however not one of them truely knows their post death fate. When you ask a question like this it often makes me chuckle at peoples responses when they say no and give some irrational excuse for their fib. You can tell most folks fear death as a mojority of people don't do things that will most likely kill them. The exhileration we all get from sky diving or bungee jumping is our body releasing endorphins and adrenaline as our fear of death becomes a physical manifestation. I look to one of human kinds greatest minds to find my peace with dying. I still fear death and I still don't want to die, but Albert Einstien said that since energy cannot be created or destroyed and our brain uses energy to control our bodies when we die our energy is released back into the universe. The energy can become part of a ne life, a flower, a new star or anything relative to energy. It would seems the universe has a plan for all of us whether we like it or not. To further console your fear, this would mean all of us most likely carry energy from our ancestors. You could partially exist from energy released by Julius Ceasar or George Washington maybe even John the Baptist or John Lenon. Fear of death is normal and healthy, letting ourselves get overcome by the fear can ruin our lives though. So what if you're not eternally rememberd, much like the billions before you and the billions after you that doesn't mean you can't enjoy your time here. It certainly doesn't mean you can't try to lead a good life and leave an impression on those who are closest to you.

- No idea what you're going on about but am I scared of death no is the answer I laugh death in the face I'm a motorcyclist for one and two I see death every single day I'm an undertaker
- I know what you mean , it's like we live to die right ? but I'm not scared of death , there is a better place above us you know. The only time I'll be scared of death depends on what type / how you would die , but if your saying just simply dying , no I'm not afraid & you won't be forgotten ..
- Nope I had near death experiences as a child and just have always felt ok about death its natural - I garden a lot and nature is full of life and death You are painting yourself a scary story but you dont have to - I am 65 and have had a really rich and fascinating life - and still enjoying myself learning and having fun so maybe its not your death you should be concerned about but the quality of your life now that makes you dwell on a story that frightens you. get out and have soem fun and change the fear into its true opposite love - Love your life and there wont be room for fear.
- No. I have done a few things that will (hopefully) keep me remembered.
And I am grateful for all the good times I had while I was alive.
Also, you will not die "when you least expect it". Modern societies are quite safe, so there is a 99% chance that you will die in a hospital bed, after months of treatment. - All the MORE REASON to fully live your life NOW! I'm 83 and had--and am still having a great life! I'm now putting together some 60 stories that I've written about my life and the areas where I lived--Japan, Berkeley, D.C., Kansas and Growing Up in the Great Depression. Start writing down YOUR STORIES! Leave them for your family! Too often, people discount their lives! But each life has it's riches, and when written down, they will never be forgotten by the family!

I mean, I don't think about it, but once I do, I think, what if I died right now? and scare myself. I still have so much to do and so much to live for, the thought of leaving this world and still having the desire and passion to live is scary, and there being nothing, absolutely nothing you can do about it?
Its a tough pill to swallow. Some people say they look death in the face every morning, I say, wow, hate to be you! I personally say, good for you, if your not afraid of death. But a little fear is good, it makes to think. It makes you become grateful for the life you still have and cherish the time that is given to us. Death is not for us to decide.
I can only tell you one thing. . .
If you live the life your given, you won't be afraid to die. :) - I'm not scared of death for your reasons, but I get what you're saying.
That same thought process could also say "what's the point in life"
The whole of history, everything that's ever happened, whats the point of it all? Because one day, the Earth will die too and everything will have been for nothing...
