Im 21 and have a best guy friend who's 22. We've been best friends since we began high school. Our parents met eachother and go out places together so our parents are best friends with eachother too. I've never had a crush on him. He even looks like he can be related to me (same height, eye color, skin tone, both brunettes, and similar personalities. He's never had a crush on me either. We refer to eachother as brother and sister. Im there for him when he's been through a break up and all depressed and he's there for me when I go through them. I call his mom "mom" sometimes and he does the same with my mom. We've had sleepovers where we play video games all night and go to sleep in the same bed (we don't do anything sexual nor kiss). We give eachother dating advice when we like someone. We fight/argue sometimes like siblings then brush past it a few hours later. But some people assume we like eachother. I love him as family and vice-versa. Nothing more.

Because we live in a sex-obsessed society and most people just can't fathom the idea of pure friendship between a male and a female. I think it's stupid. I've had plenty of male friends that I never had one iota of sexual feelings for.

- It sounds like you just wanted to rant. OK good for you and him, but leave yahoo answers alone because i'm pretty darn sure you know the answer.
- Such relationships can happen. So can dogs and cats cuddle up and sleep together (I've seen pics of it).
But that doesn't make such things normal or even reasonable.

Between a man and a woman, no matter how platonic you want to be, there is always the issue, the possibility of sex. Be strong :) - maybe you guys aren't interested in each other, it happens. That could be a good thing and be a bad thing. I don't like one of my friends cause she just would be a straight up btch to date. Nice a friend probably wouldn't make it as a couple. Plus shes kinds of stuck up, choses only to chose her white side of her family and treats minorities like they are below her and just feels she gets along better with white people. So we are friends cause we have been though the same troubles, but we would never date cause I don't date people that shallow.

Maybe you are too blind or naive to admit it. Sorry - Well we heard your side of the story but for all you know he could have a big crush on you and chances are he does-unless he finds you unattractive. The point is its near impossible for a man to find a woman attractive (not just beautiful but "damn look at that") and NOT think about fucking and dating her. It's just the way most men work. So either he is feeling something or he finds you unattractive-not necessarily ugly but you dont do "it" for him. I've just seen this happen enough to be skeptical about it is all.
