If you believe this, why do you believe this?

No more and no less than men. It is pretty insulting to all of the women who have given their lives for others to imply their sacrifices are meaningless and valueless because they are not men. I mean, we all know that happens right? You hear stories all the time. Yet somehow, some of the men on this forum just ignore those as if they mean nothing.

- Yes they do. Definitely.
Men value women's lives over themselves also.
TheZell: You can tell it's existing in a population because it's reflected in the media..
PrettyLittleLiar: No one said it didn't exist.. I know women have given their lives, but the question was "Do women value their own lives more than men?", men are sent to war, torcher, pain or suffering men face is seen as cheap humor.
Women have higher life expectancies on average, this also reflects it. - I think given the way we have sent our young men off to die in Wars for Centuries is a good indicator that not only do women value their own lives more, but that the Culture in general does. And there is likely some instinctual bias in that regard. The death of a girl or woman (or child) is always seen as maybe a little more shocking in some way since they are more fragile.
- I don't know if this can be said with any certainty or not. How do you quantify valuing your own life? And how can you know if it can be said for the entire population or not?
The first thing that came to my mind after reading this was the generalization that women think more emotionally and men think more logically (not true in all cases, but for aggregate behavior it is true). Could this perhaps lead to the perception that men value their lives less? I don't know, but it gives you something to think about. - You cannot possibly hope to make any rational generalization about any group of people, especially those whose only common characteristic is genetic.

- If actions speak louder than words; then yes, they quite obviously do
- You should see how easily frightened and scared most women get at petty things like a spider or a man who's asking her for the time.
They value their lives so much that paranoia is introduced as well as being scared and avoiding all sorts of things simply because they're lives may be at risk (as improbable as it may be).
