Definitely. The better you know the person, the more able you will be to tell what kind of mood they are in. With strangers or acquaintances you would be able to tell what kind of day they've had by the way they act, or speak; but with family or very close friends it only takes one word, and sometimes even body language to tell there is something wrong.
