Should the youth follow traditional culture or make their own choices?

Own choices, own choices, a thousand times own choices. I'm sick of tradition. It's often irrational and just boils down to doing things because everyone else is doing it, because that's what has always been done, just leave your brain at the door. Fuck that. Example - female genital cutting. Good god. Would ANYONE be doing that horrific shit today if their tradition/culture didn't demand it? This sort of mentality is a major problem with the world, people need to really have a think about what they're doing and why. PS. I'd love to know why I've got a thumbs down for this one.

1. Well, that depends on the age of the youth, if the parent chooses to raise them in a more traditional setting, yeah. But, as they get older, it should be up to them whether or not they want to continue to live that way.

   However technically I isnt upposed to have sex till marriage, but me popped meh cherry when me was 11 to a 24 year old Italian model.
   
3. They should cover their bodies with tattoos and piercings. They should shave their heads right down the middle and stop bathing. They should eat only organics and sleep outside.

6. Make their own choices, because without changing their views they might be in a culture which has a flaw and without change that culture could fail. It is just like evolution; without evolution the world would be a much different place and we would die much earlier.
   
7. It depends on the person. Most people aren't smart enough to make their own choices, so they're better off following traditional culture. But for those who are, go for it.
