What can the majority of everyday women do to stop things like child custody bias and shorter prison sentences?

...for women? Roger, it isn't, and you know what I'm talking about. Ugh, this place...

Join or help those men's rights organizations that work to end such brazen gender bias in the practice of law. Such as Fathers and Families. http://www.fathersandfamilies.org/

Other Answers:
  1. Protest, lobby, protest. It's all anyone can do.

I protest when I see injustice... male, female anything.
  2. I wasn't aware the bias was against women in this regard.....
  3. samething, gun control advocates do when they want our guns: whine, cry, beg, betch!

just use emotionally charged arguemtns that try to guilt trips Americans into begging the govt to taek our guns, our liberties, our sovereignty, and eventually our very destinies!
  4. cancel your subscription to ms. magazine, stop giving donations to N.O.W - and tell the socialists to go straight to hell.
  5. Become MRA's...
  6. We need to start committing more crime. Until then the justice system will continue to overlook us when feeding the pockets of proprietors of for profit prisons. You have inspired me. I'm going to go mug someone right now.
  7. Write a letter, sign a petition, etc... it worked for the feminists.
  8. hiya serena...

call it out when you see it, by email and letter writing... even protesting.
basically, it comes down to, "the squeeky wheel gets the grease.".
  9. The same thing feminists do for the issues that favor men.
  10. The fact of the matter is, women shouldn't feel obligated to do anything in the way of pleading to be treated more harshly. That would just be silly.
There's nothing wrong in self-advocacy and when it comes to the genders, it all evens out in the end. Sure there are some ways in which women benefit from being women, but there are also ways in which men benefit from being men.

How about if women start protesting AGAINST the things that make their lives easier when men start voting for female politicians? When we have the first female president in the US?

Another point I'd like to make is everything you mentioned is decided in courts. Child custody is determined by a judge, and prison sentences are usually judges as well, and occasionally JURIES.

Judges are usually men........... so if the OPPOSITE would lead us in the right direction, perhaps people can change the judicial system by voting for women judges?

Other than that you'd have to completely restructure society and alter the ways in which our culture in general (judges, juries...PEOPLE,) view gender.

Whining on yahoo answers is a start (NOT.)
  11. The women I've seen protesting custody bias are usually step-mothers speaking on their husbands behalf. One I read recently is where a father gets 2 hours a month with his daughter. 2 hours to build a relationship with his only child. 24 hours a year.
    That is an injustice.
Bringing attention to these types of injustices are a great start. Not everyone has time or funds to do more, but most people have access to the Internet. If more people are talking about it, it'll reach the right set of ears.
Feminism has a heavy influence and deep pockets. MRAs and fathers rights activists do not.
You can help give women the equality they want and deserve.
  12. Well, they can stop demanding special treatment. And they can stop "voting with their vaginas."
