"What with man-bashing and the erosion of the traditional masculine and feminine roles or family structure, Americans also apparently associate feminism with things other than, say, equal rights" "28 percent consider themselves to be feminists, 72 percent do not,â the findings report." "When given a neutral dictionary definition of feminism, as âsomeone who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes,â 57 percent of Americans proudly proclaim themselves feminists,â the poll concludes." Doesn't this difference show that while most people support the equality of the sexes, they also acknowledge this is not what feminism is about? http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2013/may/1/liberated-72-percent-americans-say-theyre-not-femi/#ixzz2SdQzyB00

Yes but I think we've made headway already. Most people I know, male and female, think feminism is a complete joke. "Yes. It does acknowledge that men have succeed in using shaming tactics and other manipulative strategies to convince women that self-advocacy is a bad thing." Wait--a feminist accusing someone of using shaming tactics????? Christ this is gold!
Other Answers:

Wait--a feminist accusing someone of using shaming tactics????? Christ this is gold! - Feminism *is* about equality of the sexes, but much more as well. Unfortunately, there are varying definitions of feminism and some people are out of touch with what feminism means today.
- Im pleased to know people think like this, yeah.
- It depends. Which type of feminism are we referring to here, and exactly what is the ideology behind it? Many types of feminism exists, some positive, some negative.
- No. It merely shows that women are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
MRAs say that women should have to sign up for Selective Service, but then degrade women in the workforce for having jobs that [potentially] are given to them based on "lowered standards" and/or "Affirmative Action".
Then, you don't see the relation between the Wage Gap, and women's choices in careers as "reasoning" for women being biased in family courts [i.e., choosing jobs over money in order to take care of children].
You, yourself even mentioned this as a FACT in one of your questions, which I will find and I will re-post, as you plead "ignorant" to the significance in my question...
MOST people are feminists, because our government is comprised of mostly males. Our corporations are comprised of mostly males, our city, county, state offices are comprised of mostly males...our judicial system is comprised of mostly males...
Being that the MRA movement remains underground, hidden and secret...shows the lack of support they have in even MOST of the males in this country, and definitely most of the females...
You claim women should do these jobs that are "typically" male, but "...don't expect to receive the same pay" as your counter male employees, even as a soldier in service of their country. - Um, no. That shows that the majority of the public aren't educated enough to think for themselves.
Feminists do want equality, and that is the problem. They've robbed from women the legal rights that protected us and set men free from traditional responsibilities for women and children (read feminist Jane Mansbridege's account of the feminist movement in "Why We Lost the ERA" it's very enlightening).
AVfM even had a petition for the Equal Rights Amendment a couple of weeks ago (its probably still there). Does that show everyone that MRAs are really feminists? I'd say so.
You are complaining that feminists have eroded traditional family values, yet you are the same person that told me a man shouldn't be the legal head of his family (too much responsibility for you)? - Yes, it also shows that dictionaries give false, politicised, feminist definitions.
The true, objective definition of feminism is:
"The application of the 'victim of oppression' model to women."
Whether feminists strive to achieve equality or not is a matter of empirical fact, not a matter of definition. The proof is in the pudding -- and the pudding tastes rotten! - It shows that a lot of people have bought the lies misogynist TELL about feminism.
It doesn't show anything at all about feminism.
