Masculinity has had its name dragged through the mud. Instead of being associated with positive traits such as strength, determination, passion, protective of the ones he loves it now means aggressive, violent, unintelligent and sexually threatening. The last one is what I think it all comes down too, a manly man is perceived not as a strong potential partner, but a potential rape threat. Feminine men are perceived as exactly that; feminine, female, non-threatening.

Other Answers:
  1. Women do not all prefer the same things in men. Men do not all prefer the same traits in women's. Your premise is faulty.
  2. Truth is women want a tall good looking jerk, over a shorter good man.
  3. Not all, just a trend in recent years.
  4. This, coming from someone with a transvestite-looking profile picture?
  5. I dont know a woman out there that prefers a more feminine looking man.... i seriously dont... i think you might just have a weird outlook on things that isn't quite true.... sorry to be harsh, but girls DO NOT like feminine men....
  6. Surely you are kidding? Society is geared towards men, and handsome rugged men are at the top of the chain.
Let's just look at a few celebrities - George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Brad Cooper, Liam Neeson, Denzel Washington, Clint Eastwood, Ryan Gosling, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, Chris Hemsworth, Josh Duhamel, Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Chris Pine, Leo DiCaprio, Patrick Dempsey, Colin Farrell, Hugh Jackman.

Now, if you can tell me that even one of them are feminine looking, I'll exit the planet on the next ride out.

edit: Wow, surprised at reaction. And I beg to differ, Brad Pitt is in no effing way feminine, what's the matter with you?. Nor is Leo DiCaprio. Seen any movies lately, like The Departed or Blood Diamond? He may not be as rugged as the others, but he's not feminine.
  7. Not here they don't. I mean if you are clean cut and look good I guess most females are going to give you a chance, no matter how feminine you look unless your dressing in womens clothes. Masculine doesn't mean you cant shave cut your hair twice a week, and wear clean things. Women have always been into that.

But up here they are in to rugged country boys too. So I don't know what to tell you.

@isabel, your list is flawed brad pit nor leo d isn't rugged.

  9. I've arrived!

I gotta say, like someone else mentioned, that your premise is false for the majority of cases. Women, down to a physiological level, aren't attracted at all to feminine men. What you're thinking of is probably little teenage girls who've still yet to mature and develop into full womanhood who are simply infatuated by what "every other girl" is going crazy over. I think the fact that most of a female teen's friends love these celebrities plays a huge role in influencing what she likes. If her friends didn't 'lust' over Justin Bieber, she probably wouldn't.

Another factor that might explain this is the fact that masculinity has 'earned' itself a negative connotation in the past century. Masculinity is associated to strong, dangerous, risky emotions -- things that teenagers simply aren't ready to deal with. It isn't rare at all to see a "manly man" get a lot of attention from grown women, while the younger girls get scared of him because of his beard, tattoos, commanding tone, etc.

So, I think - like someone else mentioned - that since society has labelled femininity as akin to peacefulness, kindness, safety, and whatnot.. these girls will feel more safe and comfortable around feminine looking girls. Manly men would be too much for them to handle.
  10. Sephiroth vs Fang

Wouldnt that be a good match-up. Sephiroth would totally wipe the floor with her though.
