No, they aren't deceiving themselves. Granted, life has its ups and downs but a truly happy person is someone who is happy with their life DESPITE the problems that may arise. For example, my husband and I both recently lost our jobs from the same company just three months after our wedding. It has been extremely hard to make ends meet and while we don't have the life we were used to and have to work harder and see eachother less, at the end of the day, I am happy.

Other Answers:
  1. I disagree. There are a lot of very happy people.
  2. Well obviously you're not happy. What a pessimistic question
  3. I disagree. I believe people can be truly happy. Maybe not all the time, but for large parts of their lives, because I am.

I have everything I need, much of what I want. I love and am loved. What's not to be happy about?

  5. No i think some people really are happy. Good for them.
  6. I disagree. We don't know everybody in this world; we can't judge people fully from what we see on the outside nor do we know them completely from their emotions they're feeling from the inside. Saying that statement is close-minded. We don't know everything in this world, such obvious possibilities can happen too.
