As long as there isn't physical abuse i don't see why not. Bauserman's (2012) meta-analysis of 50 studies shows that parental conflict goes down with joint custody. A boy needs his father, the bullshit between his parents is irrelevant. EDIT:The moment domestic violence is uncovered he should lose his parental rights. The risk associated with fatherlessness are heavily outweighed by the risks of child abuse.

- Wtf are you talking about
- Usually the father can't reunite with his children because the MOTHER hates the father..

Hate or dislike of an ex lover cannot possibly compare in importance to fulfilling one's role as a parent. Remind him of that. Remind him that his child NEEDS him. Surely he can set aside his feelings for her for long enough to attend to his kid's needs?
- Just do it in a way that the father doesn't interact with the mother. Reuniting the father and son, does not mean reuniting the father and mother.
I'm sure you've seen clips where the kid just runs out to the car and the father never comes into the house.
If the parents are both immature, yes there may be "mind poisoning", but now at least it will be balanced mind poisoning, and not just one view.
