im 18 and i always hear my parents and people from there generation(70s and 80s) never have anything good to say about trends and just the way we are now adays. im always hearing shyt like"we had more work ethic" or "we had more respect than that" and im kinda sick of it like who are they to put themselves above and judge us. me and friends of mine have tons of work ethic and respect for our elders and also dont apreasiate the judgement. so im wondering why do they think that way about us?

- They just don't want to tell you it's the stupid clothes most of you wear, because we had to deal with that shlt from our parents and we swore we wouldn't do it to our kids. So instead they use work ethic and respect.

Things have changed alot. It didn't used to be that most teenagers were doing drugs and getting pregnant. - I think, because all you hear about on TV is violence, music, etc...done by young people...Don't take it to heart, they're just being senile (no offense), because if you judge a book by a few pages, you don't have good judgement.

- Coley - Even though I was a wee toddler in the late 80s, I would have to agree with most older adults that youth today have a chance of being a lost cause. They have no decent good role models,morally bankedrupt, no conscious, they can't comprehend the benefits of a real relationship, and other stuff. I'm not saying all youth are like this, but there are a ton that are.

- To be honest I agree to a certain extent. There are a lot of disrespectful kids in our generation, The older generation really can't complain because they are the ones who raised us so really it's their fault they just aren't taking responsibility.
- Every generation does this. I'm sure yours will too. Everyone seems to look back on their past with rose colored glasses so to speak. But in reality, things were just as messed up back then as they are now.

It's a little worse now because parents assumed school was just an all day baby sitting service, and at the same time it was supposed to completely take over a kid's upbringing, and at the same time every person is responsible for his own upbringing. So they fuss at you because they disapprove of your upbringing, and it was their responsibility all along. It's nothing new, this is wired into human nature. Until about sixty years ago life was hard enough that everybody's upbringing was fairly basic.
