Sometimes I ask on the phone or via email even before the first date.

Other Answers:
  1. The guy I am dating now did, and i answered honestly. If you are going on a date with someone, i do not know why you would hide what you do for a living.
  2. I'm not a guy, but I don't see what's wrong with bringing it up. I'd ask a guy, out of curiosity.
(To all the ruthless judgers- I don't care about how much money he makes. I'm my own source of money, I'm not a "gold digger").
  3. Yes. Of course. It's pretty standard small talk.

My "witty" response is: "If she's on a date with me, then it's obvious what she does for a living".
  4. As a person, I do not generally ask what a person does the first time I meet them.

This is because I don't judge people based on their jobs/income level, etc.

However, this can be a conversation filler/starter for some and it can be important to some.

I personally don't like talking about work when I'm supposed to be having fun.
  5. It's a pretty generic question that nearly always asked on most first dates, by the man or woman.
  6. Not really.
If i like her enough to spark my interest, then i start asking her.
Still asking about MONEY is pretty shallow if you ask me.
  7. No
  8. It would be very odd if it didnt come up in conversation, assuming you didnt know beforehand.
  9. No. Because we don't care.

What she does for a living won't give me an erection.

Only women care what a man doesn't for a living - ( even before they have sex with him ) - because all women are whores. If George Clooney were flipping burgers at MacDonald's, no woman would give him the time of day. Because women are whores.

But it doesn't matter WHAT Kate Upton does for a living.
    Because men don't really care.

Men are not sexually attracted to job titles like women are.
Tell a woman "hello Im a doctor" and her vagina gets all moist.
She gets all excited over the money he makes. It's pretty sick actually.
  10. Sometimes I ask on the phone or via email even before the first date.
  11. I've been asked that by every man ive been involved with, and I think it was actually before we got as far as a date, it was when we first met.
