Are you surprised by how many racial questions show up on GS?

Asked by Name at 14 May,2013
I live in northern Nevada, and I've never known race to be a factor in dating or the interplay between the sexes. At all. It's never even been on my radar. But I see tons of racial questions here, and it seems like race is on a lot of people's minds, especially in the context of dating and attraction. What more closely matches your experience?

I'm surprised to see how many pseudo-racist people that are on here. I know this isn't the race section but whenever soeone does ask a Q related to race, the amount of pseudo-racists responses are a bit unflattering. This section has always been some sort of melting for people to ask Qs unrelated to the forum topic, and that is not a bad thing as long as its done sparingly. But with questions asking about why people of a certain race dates people who look a certain way or which race has a better chance in dating interracially or why don't women of a particular race date men of another particular race, then it does become a bit much.

Other Answers:
  1. No. The world is really racist.
  2. Because people who stay in this section and rant are closed-minded in every way.
  3. You must be white. Every where I have lived race is always a subject. People just avoid to talk about it. And thats why I like this section cause we talk about other things than race. I see racism on a daily basis and always have no matter where i lived in my life, except over seas. They just don't like it that I'm American.

I try not to bring race up too much, but when it comes to dating people pick and chose by race sometimes. They are maybe nice and considerate and don't tell you. There tons and I do mean tons of girls who dont date black guys for whatever reason. They call it a preference, oh well, its there.

@edit Coleen quit fronting. You haven't been approached by many black men. And surely a few idiots doesn't describe a whole race or gender. I could assume about white women a lot of the ones I run into. Drunk, fall off their bar stool can't handle their alcohol. but thank god I do have friends (mostly white females) who put ashame to all those stereotypes. Use your head. And you look like you shouldn't be turning anybody down. Pick up lines, now I know you are lying, black guys don't use pick up lines.
  4. I was at first. Now I'm slightly bemused by it ESPECIALLY when the anti white male brigade shows up.

But don't call them racist! Because, you're a white supremacist for pointing out their racism... or something to that effect. I haven't quite wrapped my head around the logic, yet.

Still... pretty stuff funny in my view.
  5. I find that the internet is an outlet for much of the opinion that may be controversial or unspoken within a culture. There is definitely an advance ideologue within most culture on earth and along the grain the hair can be split and debates begin.
  6. I live in a predominantly caucasian society, and don't usually come across interracial couples. I was hit on by an African American in a club I was at in one of the bigger cities in my area, but I was already with someone, and was not interested in him.
  7. No, I'm not. In my experience, most people always judge other people by race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. It's just that people don't usually have the gall to voice their biases in person like they do on the internet.
  8. Not at all. There are some pretty twisted people here.
  9. I'm surprised to see how many pseudo-racist people that are on here. I know this isn't the race section but whenever soeone does ask a Q related to race, the amount of pseudo-racists responses are a bit unflattering.

  10. In my experience when a black man is rejected he always assumes it's about his race or that we have no right to reject black men. When in fact it might not have anything to do with that. They are very forward and in your face and many of us prefer a more subtle approach and not to be accosted by strangers, especially the very sexual pick up lines. Many of these same women would date interracially if they met this person in a place where they knew they shared interests and had a chance to get to know each other. There is too much assumption about race.
