Who created heaven, Earth and Man. God, Man or Neither?

Asked by Stephen John at 26 April,2013
From my belief in Christianity the answer is simply God. Using the parental analogy which makes things easier to understand and grasp, God our father. The evidence comes from the Holy bible Genesis chapter one verse one which reads, ...In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth...(KJV) So the answer is God. Many people criticise this word of God, they do it now and they did it in the beginning, with Adam and Eve, where their criticism was in the form of disobedience to God. The intellectuals out there though, they really do love to show their arrogance and wit and destroy the bible in a literary criticism way. I have put this question in the anthropology section as origins of mankind is that subjects discipline. This is a fundamental question that has perplexed humanity for many centuries. My evidence comes from the Holy bible. Other people's evidence which is of a non god nature please feel free to leave below. In conclusion it's essential that we all agree to disagree regarding this 'origins' question and walk hand in hand for the love of humanity. Thanks. I've been influenced by people at the point of death, similar to being stuck down a horrible pit with no way out. It was Jesus that got them out. Jesus saved these people's lives. If it was a scientist that didn't believe in god that saved the person, then the chances are that I would support that scientist and put my life's energies into the technological revolution or something that helps improve the lives of mankind. There's more to life than just a person's intellect or mind. Christianity encompasses wisdom, love and life, and when all three intertwine like the triple god head Holy Trinity, revelations are incorporated with love. I can be narrow minded and full of Jesus or love, which is life and happiness. God is all powerful and has the broadest of minds. God speaks to believers through his son Jesus. This is extremely difficult for many people in the world to accept. Once you feel the love of Jesus then you know. We are taught by the second commandment to

There are other religions in the world with other holy books that have different mythologies of the origins of the world and humans. You are stuck in your narrow minded personal conviction that your religion is the "truth". Who is to say that it has any more "truth" than Hinduism (which is a far older religion) or Shintoism, or Taoism or any other religion? And religion is not Science. The ancient oral legends that people invented around their campfires thousands of years ago before they knew anything about the natural world are just that, invented stories and myths. The stories in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible are a mish mash of traditions from other older religions and folk tales from the Middle East. They were invented and handed down and written by men, they are not "the word of God". Just because your church teaches you that your "scripture comes from God" does not make it true. If you had studied the REAL origins of the Bible you would know it was a man-made effort that combined an assortment of unrelated texts of unknown origin that was put together by a bunch of religious scholars in the 5th century AD. I realize it is pointless to argue this with you since your mind is deadlocked from being brainwashed by religion. IF you choose to believe what your church tells you, that's your personal decision. But such religious mythology and supersticions should not be taught in public schools or forced upon more intelligent and educated people who are responsible for scientific research and the ways that it effects public policy. I am not Christian, I was not raised that way and I do not share your beliefs any more than I would share those of any other religion. The fact that you and other people who answered here don't understand the natural forces that created the universe and the living things in it is because you have not bothered to educate yourselves and prefer to remain ignorant. I and millions of other intelligent people in the world HAVE bothered to get an education in physics, chemistry, evlutionary biology, astronomy, geology and genetics. We see and understand the evidence and physical proof that those sciences have yielded. It is a good thing there are more of us than there are ignorant relgious people like you or we would not have the technologies that enable us to live today. if everyone was as narrow minded as you are we would still be herding sheep and making up "creation" fables around campfires in the desert.

Other Answers:
  1. If we think about this, even human beings to some extent are the authors of our own futures.
I've been on the earth long enough to watch how many old hypothetically created movies have come true years later. So the word of G-d is creation.

The word of G-d: John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The word of G-d: Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The Word of G-d: Ephesians chapter 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of G-d:

The helmet of salvation is Jesus Christ, and the sword of the spirit is the Holy Spirit â€" or the Spirit of G-d a witness to conscience.

The word of G-d: Timothy Chapter 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The word of G-d: First Epistle, John Chapter 2:24
Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
  2. I truly believe in God but understand a scientists point of view. But the one thing I don't understand from science is if the big bang created everything. How could an explosion create humans and every little detail on earth.
  3. God created the world just like you said from the bible. How could everything be created by an explosion? Our body and how things work are an exact and perfect creation. A small example is that if earth was one millimeter nearer to the sun, we would boil. If we were a mm further from the sun, we would be colder. Our body... No one can even start to say how complex it is.
As for man, how could he have created himself? No one has the ability to create something as wonderful as this world.
I hope I helped you, you believe right, which is quite something when comparing it to nowadays. Everyone believes in the Big Bang, they just don't know how stupid that is :)
  4. I think the only true evidence is creation itself. A scientist can observe it and come up with theories of the origin of the Earth and life forms, but in the end they are all just theories. A Christian looks to the Bible for historical information, and believes the biblical account of creation out of faith. Understanding each other and accepting that others have different views is important, but personally I do not believe that as a Christian I can completely understand a non-biblical worldview. I can respect it, but I do not truly understand, as I cannot imagine the world without God.

EDIT: I did not mean to imply a scientist is essentially not a Christian... I am a scientist myself, but my faith is my faith and that is one of the assumptions I chose to make. In the end, I am no less biased than an atheistic or even agnostic scientist who leaves God and faith out entirely.
